Description

Presenting my second pony, Twilight Sparkle! I'm actually working on trying to improve the pattern a little, to make the neck a little longer. I've already finished writing the altered part, so I'll get the pattern typed and put up soon.

I'm not entirely pleased with her mane. I feel like it should have been cut at more of an angle, but if I did that now, it would be too short. She's technically not completely finished, since I ran out of black fabric paint to do the eyelashes out of, but overall, besides those two things, I'd say she looks pretty good.

I was having trouble deciding where to take a picture, so I decided on the bookshelf, since she's the bookworm and all. Makes sense, anyway.

Okay, so I finally got the pattern to this typed up, so here it is. (Now with Rarity hair!):

EDIT: I have edited this pattern again, just slightly, to make the legs and back of body a little longer.

Finish off, leaving long end for sewing. Stuff leg firmly. Sew to sides of Body Front. Weave in all ends.

Back legs (make 2):

1-10: work same as front legs

16: 5 sc, dec, 4 sc (10)
17: 4 sc, dec, 3 sc, dec (8 sts, overlaps by one st into the next rnd)
Finish off, leaving long end for sewing. Stuff lower leg firmly, very lightly stuff upper leg/hauch. Flatten haunch, sew rnd 17 flat. Sew to sides of Body Back.

Muzzle (for mares):

Ears (make 2):

1: with main color, 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2: even rnd
3: (inc, 2 sc) x2 (8)
4: (inc, 3 sc) x2 (10)
5: even rnd
Work in rows
1: 2 sc, ch 1, turn
2: 5 sc, ch 1, turn
Work in rnds again
6: 5 sc, 4 sc on rnd 5, dec over next sc and side of row 1, slip st to first sc.
Finish off, leaving long end for sewing. Fold ears flat, do not stuff. Denting ears inward slightly, sew to top of head, leaving room in between for the mane.

Mane:
There are two ways to do the hair. The way I did it, using this tutorial: [link] , you will need a sewing machine. Otherwise, you can individually latch hook the strands of hair to the head to make the mane and tail.
Using the tutorial, I made one piece long enough to go from the forehead to about halfway down the head. For the tail, I used the same method, but with a very short piece, only about half an inch long. Then use a yarn needle and string of yarn to match the hair to sew it into place on the head and bum. Then just trim the hair as needed.

Make eyes and cutie mark from felt, and glue in place. Using black fabric paint, outline eyes and make the eyelashes, if any.

Hat (for Applejack):

1: with brown, 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2; inc x6 (12)
3: slip st in each sc around
4: (inc, sc) x6 (18)
5: even rnd
6: ch 1, turn, in Front Loops only, inc, 15 sc, inc. Leave last sc unworked. (19)
7: ch 1, turn, (inc, 2 sc) x6, inc, ch 1, work 2 sc down side, slip st in unworked sc on rnd 6, work 2 sc up side, join with slip st to first sc.

Horn (for unicorns):

1: with main color, 4 sc in magic ring (4)
2-5: inc, sc in each sc around (8 at rnd 5)
Finish off, stuff and sew to forehead.

Wings (for pegasus ponies):
(make 4, sew 2 together for one wing)

1: with main color, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hk and next 2 chs (3)
2: ch 1, turn, 2 sc, inc, (4)
3: ch 1, turn, inc, sc, dec (4)
4: ch 1, turn, 2 sc, ch 3
5: turn, sc in 2nd ch from hk and next ch, 2 sc (4)
6: ch 1, turn, 3 sc, inc, (5)
7: ch 1, turn, inc, 2 sc, dec (5)
8: ch 1, turn, 2 sc, ch 5
9: turn, sc in 2nd ch from hk and next 3 ch, 2 sc (6)
10: ch 1, turn, 5 sc, inc, (7)
11: ch 1, turn, inc, 2 sc, dec, 2 sc (7)
12: ch 1, turn, 3 sc, ch 4
13: turn, sc in 2nd ch from hk and next ch, dec over next ch and next sc, dec (4)
14: ch 1, turn, 3 sc, inc (5)
15: ch 1, turn, inc, 3 sc, inc, working down side, inc in first side st, 3 sc, dec, 2 sc, dec, 2 sc, inc
Finish off, leaving a long end for sewing on 2 of the pieces. Sew 2 pieces together to make 1 wing, leaving the starting 3 chs at the bottom open. Sew to side of body, with the bottom of wing open (not flat, this will help the wings stand up), just behind the line where the body back joins to the front.

2: ch 1, turn, 10 sc, leave remaining sc unworked, ch 1, turn, 10 sc, ch 1, turn, 10 sc, dec over side of row and next sc, sc in each sc across to end.
3: ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
4: rep row 2
5: rep row 3
Finish off, sew to back of head, just behind Bangs. Tack curl in place with purple yarn.

Tail (Rarity):
1: with purple, ch 36, sc in 2nd ch from hk and next 25 chs, (inc, 2 sc) x3 (38)
