My First Shiny Pokemon

Description

A wild Swinub appears! Oh, it's just a swinub.......wait, WHAT?!

That was exactly my reaction 11 years ago on March 9th when I found my very first shiny pokemon. I was just going through the ice path for the lulz, when all of a sudden, I noticed that it sparkled, and I nearly jumped through the roof with excitement. I ran back to my brother to show him, and he helped me catch it (I was like, 11 at the time). I had my lv. 70 something Murkrow use peck, thinking it was his weakest move, and it wouldn't kill it. Well, wouldn't you know it used endure anyway, so that was really lucky. Then my brother went to use a pokeball...and I had ONE left. A regular pokeball. He threw it, it wiggled once...it wiggled twice....wild Swinub was caught! I was so happy!

Cut to about a year ago, I'm staying at my grandma's house, and my brother calls me up one day. He was playing his Heart Gold version, and happened to be going through the ice path for the first time, and, having never found a shiny pokemon in all his years of playing, wouldn't you know what he'd found? A silver Swinub. Both of our very first shiny pokeymans were the SAME pokemon in the same place! WHAT ARE THE ODDS?!

Cut to about a month or two ago, when i went to check that same old Silver version of mine again to check on my pokeymanz, which I do fairly regularly, and I get to the title screen. Hit the A button, and I see NEW GAME and OPTIONS. You can bet there was a little disappointment in there. But I knew it was coming. I mean come on, the cartridge was 12 years old, and just now dying!

Anyway, I actually made this doll on March 9th of this year, as a sort of homage to my original shiny swinub, hence why it's blue, and not silver. That's what color a shiny one was back then. I'll eventually be making my other two classic shinies, but you'll have to wait till I make them to see what they are.

Anyway, I typed up a pattern for this guy, but the stitching appears kinda crooked on the top and bottom of the doll when you finish, but once you get the stripes on, you can barely tell, if at all. Also, I have this listed as amigurumi, and you could probably do it as such, but I would recommend joining rnds for this one. I did on mine anyway. So here it is:

Swinub Plushie
Abbreviations:
sc=single crochet
inc=increase (2 sc in next sc)
dec=decrease
st=stitch
ch=chain
hk=hook
rnd=round

I never really use gauge, so it's not that important, just use a hook that's good with
the size of yarn you're using.

Materials:
Lt. Brown yarn
Pink Yarn
brown felt scraps
yarn needle for sewing
stuffing

Body (join rnds)
1: with lt. brown, ch 9. sc in 2nd ch from hk and next 6 ch, 4 sc in last ch, continue around to other side, sc in free loops of next 6 chs, 3 sc in last ch (20)
2: (7 sc, inc x3) x2 (26)
3: (7 sc, (inc, sc)x3) x2 (32)
4: (7 sc, (2 sc, inc)x3) x2 (38)
5: even rnd
6: (7 sc, (inc, 3 sc)x3) x2 (44)
7: even rnd
8: (7 sc, (4 sc, inc)x3) x2 (50)
9-11: even rnds
12: (7 sc, (4 sc, dec)x3) x2 (44)
13: even rnd
14: (7 sc, (dec, 3 sc)x3) x2 (38)
15: (7 sc, (2 sc, dec)x3) x2 (32)
16: (7 sc, (dec, sc)x3) x2 (26)
17: (7 sc, dec x3) x2 (20)
18: (7 sc, skipping middle sc, dec over next 3 sts)x2 (16)
Finish off, stuff. Sew rnd 18 flat. Stitching will appear crooked on body, but won't really be noticeable once you get the felt details on.

Nose
1: with pink, 6 sc in magic ring (6)
2: inc x6 (12)
3: even rnd
4: (dec, 4 sc)x2 (10)
Finish off, sew to front of body, stuffing lightly.

Back Fluff
with lt. brown, ch 17. *sc, inc, ch 1, sc in front loop of sc just made, slip st in next ch*, rep 7 more times.
Finish off, sew across back of body, near the bottom, (so that the fluffs are even with the ground when doll sits flat).

Stitch on eyes/nose holes, make stripes on body from brown felt.

As usual, do not claim this pattern as your own, sell this pattern, or sell things made from this pattern. However, I don't mind if you make things for charity and whatnot, and if you use this pattern, it is always appreciated if you link back to it! :)
